I cannot recommend Spence Clarke highly enough! They may appear to cost more than others, but the quality of their work and the personalized care they offer makes their service a bargain - tax rebates appear, costs decrease, and stress reduces. Highly recommended! What sets Spence Clarke apart is their ability to take complex situations -- like the embargoes and financial complications we faced (caused by a cheaper firm!) --and simplify them into clear, actionable steps. Martina and Alicia walked me through everything in plain English, ensuring I fully understood each aspect of the process. No question was too small or too complicated; they patiently explained every detail until I felt confident moving forward. Thanks to their meticulous attention to detail and strategic advice, what initially felt like an overwhelming situation slowly but surely transformed into a smooth and well-managed process. After my husband died here in Spain, I was suddenly left without health insurance of my own. I initially met with Claudia from Spence Clarke, who involved her colleague Eva Moreno to help deal with the Spanish bureaucracy in order to get my entitlement for national healthcare back. Eva was very professional and helpful. She even accompanied me to the Social Security office in Marbella to get things sorted, which they were eventually ( it took some patience on our part), thanks to her help. I have been using Spence Clarke for 2 years now and the service is very good - I only wish they would offer a UK tax return service also as it would make my life easier having all tax affairs with one accountant rather than two.

We switched to Spence Clarke on recommendation. We had an initial zoom meeting with Claudia and we discussed our finances in detail. Claudia answered all our questions and explained the Spanish Tax system simply. We have lived in Spain for 15 years and wish we had known about Claudia and her team then. When it claim to filing our tax declarations we received detailed instructions which made it simple for us. We returned the information and Madeleine called us to confirm everything and explain the next step etc. Everything went smoothly and Claudia emailed us back our tax declarations to review. These were then filed and tax declaration completed and filed by mid April. My old accountants messed up, which in Spain means that you yourself are liable. I was penalized pretty severely by the tax office, suffered substantial losses (fines, forfeited reduced taxes, etc.) worth close to EU10k. I contacted Alistair Clarke and he helped me navigate this mine field of Spanish bureaucracy very well. Spain is a socialist country, so if you are looking to create your own company or work as freelancer, there is a minefield of red tape you will need experienced accountants like S&C to help you navigate with the least amount of damages. I highly recommend them and their various teams, all of whom are very capable, from personal to business accounting.

A shambles. Completely let me down after very charmingly promising the world at a time when I needed a decent and reliable accountant, that is, in the middle of my husband having an organ transplant - in fact after weeks of demanding all sorts of paperwork the boss finally told me in a bizarre and unprofessionally emotional email they were not doing my accounts anymore, saying I had "crossed a line" - I had asked what the status of the work was, which of course is normal if the person has done any work - but he did manage to make me feel it was my fault he had had to fire people and everything was a mess their end, and his phone was out of battery, and he was travelling, blah blah. After a month, nothing had actually been done despite me handholding about six junior staff through my accounts, and having to point out how an Excel workbook works to the owner of the company because he didn't understand tabs, and explaining what PayPal is to four others. Ultimately, I had had to do so much of the work myself in many different formats because none of them could work it out, that I filed on my own in an hour in the end. They made so much work for me I would have been better off never hiring them. The worst part was I hired them based on an analysis they said was made, that two of my quarters by another accountant were incorrectly filed by 5,000 Euros. It turned out the quarters filed were correct to the cent, so was it a sales ploy to make me think I needed to hire them? Probably.
